We
begin “Morthwork” with birds chirping and then we delve into this overall
ambient sound that has a little bit of building to it as well. It has this vibe of The Cure or even The
Cranberries to it- musically- and I’m really digging it. The second song really channels that “In a
Gadda Da Vida” feel and then we begin the quiet guitar strum.
In
ways this reminds me of Endless Melancholy, but in other ways there is also
just so much more to it than just that.
There is this certain piano tone that I can hear to it, but I don’t
think it is actually a piano but rather the guitar work still, a true testament
to the deception of Hammemit. (A
magician never reveals their secrets!)
As
we near the end it begins to grow darker and then we can hear the owl say his
familiar “who” sound. Birds come back
on and begin chirping again, thus bringing us, as the listeners, full
circle.
