This
is close to a cassingle, but there are two songs per side instead of the
standard one. Overall, this is just
dreamy and I want to get that out of the way right now so I don’t end using
that word a hundred times in this review.
The
first song is kind of a slowed down version of Buddy Holly, while the second is
instrumental and reminds me a bit more of a carousel ride. It’s a nice mix because it borders on that
rock n roll/garage sound labels like Burger Records try to promote but often
end up not delivering, yet it is far enough away from it to not get lumped in
with those other bands.
Beginning
Side B, the third song has more of a spoken word verse style while the chorus
and overall general feel just reminds me of “Teen Angel”. The last song is slow and brings out Flaming
Lips perhaps more than anything and it just makes me feel like, as the songs go
on from start to finish, that by the last they have really found their own
sound.
