CASSETTE REVIEW: Hartley C. White & Blanche Blanche Blanche “White Blanche” (OSR Tapes)

This is a true cassingle because it has only one song on each side.   The first song has very sparse female vocals, as really it’s only a matter of “never never never never never” being heard in the background of the chorus.   It’s indie rock at its core, but it has some sort of hip hop undertones I cannot explain to you without your hearing the song.

Side B, which is the second song, has more of the straight up female vocals in an indie bedroom pop type of sound.  What’s interesting is that there are voices in the background conversing, as if this was recorded in a crowded area, such as a mall for example.

True to cassingle standards, this ranks for me somewhere between my cassingles for Murmurs “You Suck” and Folk Implosion “Natural One”.
