SPOTIFY REVIEW: patten "Estoile Naiant" (Warp)

At its roots, a band like patten can simply be described as electronic, instrumental and experimental.  There is probably some cool code for that combination like IEE, EIE or IEE, but I’m not down with the hip terms and sometimes still have to Google what “IDM” means in terms of music genres.

There are some 8bit parts in here, which can sound like organs.  This reminds me of jPeg Artifacts or Pong, the game not the band.  It’s got a really nice beat though and is able to maintain its allure throughout the entire album, which is rare in itself because when albums like this get released on labels like Warp I usually check out by the fourth song.
