A lot
of cassettes in what I like to refer to as the Tape Revival come off sounding
one of two ways. They are either ambient
or they have beats.
Granted,
there are bands out there that seem to make music and then just happen to have
it released on cassette, either because they themselves like cassettes or
someone just says “Hey, can I put your music on tape?” and they say, “Sure!”.
Pyramidal
is that rare combination of ambient music with beats that reminds us of perhaps
the first time that I had peanut butter and jelly. Oh sure, it had been done before, I was not
the first to taste the flavor sensation, but it’s just different when you
discover it, as if it’d never happened before.
