The XX “Coexist”
The XX create music that just begs to be remixed. They have this soft synth power going on behind the singing that can be either male or female, but for the most part the music is very light and reminds me of a less complicated version of The Postal Service at times. This is just asking to have louder beats put behind it and mixed however someone sees fit.
These songs really are beautiful though and I enjoy this album more than their self titled if only because “we used to be closer than this”.
You could use words like “ambient” or “boring” or “pop” even to describe this, but the fact remains that it is pleasant to the ears and there really isn’t anything else out there that sounds quite like this. If there is, it’s only because they’re copying The XX.
