MP3 Review: dreamcrusher "SUICIDE DELUXE"

[$10 // Edition of 25 // https://dreamcrusher.bandcamp.com/album/suicide-deluxe]

Well, the folks at Hausu Mountain released this album from back in March of 2013 to cassette.   I'm not going to dish out ten dollars for a single cassette plus an additional five dollars shipping but I can appreciate this music digitally.   In some ways (and I'm not just saying this because I don't want to pay for the cassette) I feel like some of this music is in a way that wouldn't sound best on cassette.   It's a lot of static, but the static is also manipulated in a lot of ways that it would just sound like what would happen when you put your television on and not your VCR.

The sounds though are mixed up and given little glitches and blips into electronic loops so there is this interesting sound to it there where it's not just drone or random but rather... melodic isn't the right word, but there's a rhythm to it anyway.     It could be from the movie "Run Lola Run" or it could be in compare with possibly only hiyohiyoipseniyo but it's definitely worth checking out even if it only leads you to some of the other dreamcrusher releases, most of which are on cassette as well.
Through harsh feedback bits that sound more like tones or notes than the typical bursts, this also has the qualities of fax machines rebelling but about what I have no idea.

If you do find yourself enjoying this one though (as I did) then be sure to also check out the newer "Antipop" because at least now I have a point of comparison for music that is static-electronic-shouldn't-have-rhythm-but-it-does... whatever.

  1. Our cassettes are $6 and shipping is $2 in the US -- prices that we believe are very fair. Please don't spread misinformation.

  2. It was $10 on the Dreamcrusher Bandcamp and yours says $7 anyway so who is misinformation now?

  4. [EDITED] Hey, I actually do charge more for my tapes than the label. They're a company and I'm an artist. There's always the option to buy from them instead. You get other merch and person drawings when you order from me though, so it's a pretty even takeaway.

  5. See, I knew I saw $10 somewhere without shipping.

What I find curious is that the label is selling it for less, yet they're not sold out of it yet and you are. Weird.

For the record, I have been listening to some of your other music as well (Mostly "Antipop", but am looking forward to the split with Girl 27 coming up) so if you ever want to talk about music, labels, GoFundMe, whatevs we should totally do an interview. You can email me: raisedbygypsies@yahoo.com if you have the interest/time and all that.
