CD REVIEW: Further Than The Moon “Further Than The Moon” (Captain Crook Records)

At its core, Further than the Moon is folk punk band though the sound can also cross into that realm of folk music that can be a good fit for the Juno soundtrack.  It does on some level remind me of an acoustic version of Catch-22 as well (original lineup), though I’m not sure that band has released an acoustic CD in any formation of members.   (It’s that “Giving Up, Giving In” song that gets me most)

These songs also seem to be happy go lucky on the surface, and there are lyrics about not liking pessimists, yet somehow a lot of the songs are about wanting to go away, so go figure.   Either way, it’s upbeat and positive (for the most part at least) and is just genuine fun.
