There
are a few ways to describe Defago, but being they are on a record label with
the word “horror” in the title of it seems pretty fitting. Through moments of dark synth, “Paint it
Black” hints and of course some video game bits, Defago manages to pull off
something that isn’t too far from what you’re used to hearing in this overall
genre, yet can be rather… disturbing.
Some
Knight Rider sounds come out, but that doesn’t make this any less
terrifying. Who thought it was a good
idea to put that crying on the sixth song?
If you told me this was to be played inside a haunted house, then I’d be
likely to make a whole lot more sense out of it.
Granted,
as we get toward the last few songs it sort of tames down and that’s okay. Overall, it has some moments that certain
people just shouldn’t listen to (the really young or really old, the faint of
heart, etc.) but in terms of instrumental video game type doom, Defago could easily
be the Misfits of it.
