MP3 REVIEW: Cassettes on Tape “Murmuration”

It’s been over a year since I reviewed Cassettes on Tape “Cathedrals EP” and any new music they want to present to the world- ever- is always welcome.   These seven songs take the sound of The Cure and The Smiths and put a modern twist on them.   Portions of this remind me of Love Spit Love even, who are somewhat more modern than those other two bands but really not by that much.

With the modern sound to this take on a classic sound, I truly do believe that you would find this band- any of these songs really- on the soundtrack to a movie like “Angus”, which is arguably one of the single best soundtracks ever produced for a movie that seemingly nobody cared about.  (I saw it in theaters, but never mind that)

The White Stripes do come out on some small scale and I can even hear something closer to modern like Supergrass but overall this is a set of seven songs that pays tribute to its roots, to the past, yet adds that little extra something so as to remain fresh and new, which in this present day and age of music is a lot to ask for so we should be very grateful.
