CASSETTE REVIEW: Supervixens “Nature and Culture” (Already Dead Tapes)

When first listening to “Nature and Culture” I can hear this fast paced rock n roll sound that brings out an instrumental Porno for Pyros influence to me.  I’m cool with this, and for various reasons I want this to become the soundtrack to a surfing video, but then Supervixens take an interesting turn.

The music slows down a little bit, becomes sort of dark ambient and even includes some trademark Undertaker gongs before bridging the gap between that and Nine Inch Nails, then ultimately finding themselves in a fast paced metal groove.

On the flip side, we get some sort of vocals, but this remains primarily instrumental and just rocks like no one’s business.  I’m not sure I’ve heard something this heavy from Already Dead Tapes before, but I’m certainly digging it.

While some Illegal Wiretaps parts come out, this mostly reminds me of a great metal band with other influences such as Liturgy and that’s right up there amongst the best for me.
