CASSETTE REVIEW: Slow Warm Death (Bad Heaven)

The best way I’ve come up with to describe Slow Warm Death is by simply calling them high octane.  They’re all over the board to some extent, only not really.  They have hints of Superdrag, Nirvana, Weezer, and then some other punk bands such as Sex Pistols, Tora Tora Torance, Green Day and even Dandelion.

To say that SWD is a band out of time would be wrong.   They are perfectly fine in their time, taking these bits of the past and combining them with something new to form a sound that is unique and genuine to them.

I often tend to like bands like this and say that they sound like a band that would have had one radio song in the late 1990’s but just an overall stellar album.   But even SWD would be somewhat out of place in the 1990’s and they do have a more modern feel to them.

It feels more like they are taking steps forward as opposed to living in the past and I’m okay with that.
