Have you ever listened to Tori Amos? Bud, your reviews are utter shite. I wouldn't expect Rolling Stone to coming knocking with a job offer anytime soon.
Not agreeing with me doesn't make my reviews bad. When I first put this on, my wife- who is a huge Tori Amos fan- asked if I was listening to some Tori Amos she had never heard before. I could hear the Tori Amos in it, sure, but she really heard it.
On a side note, wanting to write for Rolling Stone is kind of like wanting to have your music video played on Mtv. You're in the wrong time.
It's not that I don't necessarily agree with the jist of a couple of the 'reviews' you've done, I just think your reviews are really bad. Most of them are negative and you tend only to have positive things to say about artists you've already been sold on, e.g. Arcade Fire. I think Arcade Fire are shit, incidentally.
I also happen to be a big Tori Amos fan, and even though I can't hear the Tori Amos in their music, your review of this record wasn't helpful at all for anyone hoping to gauge their sound, as with most of your reviews.
As for the Rolling Stone comment...I guess that was said because I'm not sure I really understand the purpose of this blog and all these reviews? There's no real content here; this blog largely comprises negative little one liners and reads like a crappy portfolio. It seemed a bit like you wanted to apply for a job with a music mag and needed to throw together a blog to back up your CV. And as for being in the wrong time - why the review of Icky Thump? Wasn't that a huge hit on MTV something like 8 years ago...
There are some reviews are positive, I just don't think you're looking hard enough. Some of them also happen to be longer than one line, though the purpose of this blog is to try to limit the reviews to the shortest, simplest form possible. (Unless otherwise noted) I do write longer reviews in other places, so this isn't my primary means of reviewing at all.
I also believe anyone who would give me a job based on this blog would be a fool.
Ultimately, if all you can see is the negative reviews on this blog and it doesn't get you excited about bands that you can download music for free from on Band Camp (bands like Featherface, excuseMesir, The Watermarks, One-Eyed Doll and many more) then perhaps you are reading it wrong.
