SBSR: MOTHS “Moths”

Recently, I’ve been downloading and listening to music like crazy from Band Camp.   This is a review of a group of songs by the same band I got from Band Camp- usually it constitutes an EP.   This is a song-by-song review and it is never to exceed six songs.   At the end, I will tell you the “Recommended Downloading Level”, which means whether or not I think you should spend your time downloading these songs.   It’s on a scale from 1 to 5, 5 meaning that you should stop reading my review and download these songs immediately and 1 meaning that if you even think about downloading these songs your computer will be infected with a horrific bad music virus.   Enjoy.
MOTHS “Moths”
01: “Jupitari” [4:22] -- We’re starting with guitar loops and some light drumming here.   Fun so far, but still staying mellow and kind of like background noise more than music.  As we get closer to the three minute mark it seems to be kicking in a bit more.
02: “Gold Ghost” [6:34] -- Here we open with a bit of a heavier guitar riff and then get some faster drumming.    And now we have screaming.   Oh, two guys screaming.   This is either one of those deals where they have two vocalists like Haste or they have a drummer singing like From Autumn to Ashes.   This song is still quite fun as it’s not quite the straight up screamo I found myself outgrown with Shark Bait, but it’s a nice difference.
03: “Transit” [2:27] – We’re starting a bit mellower here.    Some distant, inaudible screaming.   I think this song is just a sort of interlude between songs 2 and 4.
04: “You’ve Reached Marshall” [2:39] -- We’re back to the craziness we heard in “Gold Ghost”.   Turn this up LOUD.   This song kind of reminds me of the heavier parts of As Cities Burn.
05: “Asteral” [3:10] -- Screaming starts off this song.   Then it turns into mostly heavy music without vocals.   Fair enough.
06:  “Perseids” [10:21] -- This song is going to be long.  Why is it so long?  I don’t know.   There are a lot of pieces to this song; it’s like a bunch of baby songs melted into one giant ten minute song.  I really do like it because it just feels like Bohemian Rhapsody or something only metal.
If you’ve ever been angry at anything you should download these here songs.   If you’ve never been angry at anything then you should read a newspaper and get angry.
Recommended Downloading Level:  4/5
