Berkshire Hounds “Greatest Hits”
Back after The Gadjits were ska they became this sort of gospel revival band and that, crossed with something like Blue Meanies, is what Berkshire Hounds reminds me of for the most part. It’s not really ska and it’s not quite punk either. It’s definitely not like Goldfinger or bands along those lines, it’s closer to the big band sound with all of the horns and how they make up more of the sound than just the guitar and bass. “Brighter Days, Idle Ways” is a song that’s a great example of the soul-funk of these songs as well.
While I’m not entirely sure if this is actually the “Greatest Hits” or their first album, these songs should be listened to at least once by most everyone just so you can say that you heard them.
