These
songs sound like a good fit for a showcase of bands which can be described as
twee-pop, yet Ah God doesn’t really exhibit the sounds of twee nor pop
precisely. Throughout the songs on this CD I can hear
everything come out from Weezer to Flaming Lips to Violent Femmes. There is also an underlying theme presented
of the song “Revolution”.
At
other times, it can become rather explosive.
In this way, there are also elements of Ramones found within these
songs, which just makes for an overall excellent combination. By the end it does slow down a bit and become
more instrumental, but this is still just a solid album from start to finish
and it has made me an instant fan of Ah God.
