<1> “Ronin” – This song begins in a pop punk, emo type
of way. I’m thinking now that I found
this under the emo tag on Band Camp, though the band name made me think hardcore
or post rock at least. But yeah, this
is pretty standard pop punk only now they’re getting a little heavy. This does sound a lot like The Used to me
when he screams in the chorus. This song is taking some turns throughout, but
it maintains its core sound. Home is
where the heart is / Home is where it hurts the most. Maybe so, but what happens when you have no
home?
<2> “The Fox & The Huntsman” – Here we go with a
little bit more energy and a running sort of guitar riff. If this band was not produced by Feldy, he
should look into producing them. And
now the vocals come in somewhere between Plain White T’s (before they switched
singers) and The Exit. This has a really familiar sound to it, but I’ve
been so out of touch with emo. It’s
getting some angry starts and stops in the chorus without the screaming. And now it’s breaking down acoustic
style. He shot up into Heaven, but the
gates we closed. I bet that lyric is a
reference to drugs. Within the last
forty seconds or so of this song, we gets an almost blues feel to it.
