SBSR: The Cherry Wave “Blush EP”

The Cherry WaveBlush EP
<1> “Blush” – This guitar riff starts us off really distorted.    This is mostly a slur of crazy U2 like guitar rock and only a hint of vocals that I don’t feel have made any actual words yet.
<2> “Drown” – This song comes in with heavy distortion somewhere between Weezer and Hum.  If it doesn’t get vocals before it ends I might have to bail out.   Oh, and speak of the vocals here they come.    They have a drone sound in the chorus though, which is a bit weird.   The verse sounds really good though.  The Joy Division sort of but not really vocals make this song so much more enjoyable than if it sounded like Weezer for real.   The first song was good, despite being instrumental, but this song was so much better.
<3> “Melt” – Speaking of Weezer, this song begins like a distorted version of that song of theirs called “Photograph”.    This track is really guitar driven and I like it.  It’s funny too, because I just watched a documentary about the guy and his family in December, but it has qualities to it as well that remind me of The Flys.   Remember them?  Such an awesome band that needs to be releasing music still.     This is also kind of like shoegaze only with heavy distortion, so can I name it distortgaze?
<4> “Cave-Wave” – This has that catchy pop style distorted guitar again, but then those certain vocals that you don’t think would suit it very well but actually does.
