NEWS: Skaters Sign to Warner Bros. Records

WARNER BROS. RECORDS SIGNS BUZZED-ABOUT NYC ROCK BAND SKATERS

7" SINGLE OF "I WANNA DANCE" TO BE RELEASED APRIL 9TH
BAND TO PERFORM AT SXSW IN MARCH
Feb 5, 2013 - (Burbank, CA) - Warner Bros. Records is pleased to announce that it has signed buzzed-about New York City-based rock band SKATERS to its roster. Their smart, dynamic sound blends their disparate new wave, punk and hip-hop influences into their own modern indie hybrid. Their live shows and independently released EP has already earned them attention from The New York Times, Vice/Noisey, BlackBook, Interview, Paste, as well as airplay on BBC Radio 1 in the U.K. and Triple J Radio in Australia. Click here to listen and post "I Wanna Dance (But I Don't Know How)".

SKATERS were formed in early 2012 after singer Michael Ian Cummings and Noah Rubin spent a year trading demos back and forth from Los Angeles to London with guitarist Joshua Hubbard. A few months later, the three met in a Chinatown loft to created their own art zine, YONKS, and record their debut EP, Schemers, which was given away for free on the band's website and drew immediate critical praise:

"SKATERS play dark garage rock featuring Michael Ian Cummings's energetic front-and-center vocals." -The New Yorker
"SKATERS are taking the NYC music scene by storm." -Vice / Noisey
"Punchy, power chord-laden romps with sing-along choruses are elevated to anthems with generous reverb." -The Deli Magazine
"The trio met in New York to record an EP of sturdy, electrifying punk that draws from the energy of today's young musicians yet remains connected to the traditional Boston and NYC scenes." -Filter

"Skaters are about to explode." -Blackbook

SKATERS debut full-length will be released by Warner Bros. Records this summer. In the meantime, the band will release their first 7-inch single on April 9th, which will feature tracks "I Wanna Dance (But I Don't Know How)"and "Armed." Check out the band when they perform at SXSW in Austin, Texas, this March and stay tuned for SKATERS' first headlining tour to kick off in April. More details to be announced soon.
