CD REVIEW: A Shoreline Dream “3 EP”

A Shoreline Dream “3 EP”
This is a SBSR.  If you don’t know the drill by now, learn it!
1)      “oneside” – We start with some pretty nice guitar work on this intro.   It’s all coming in nicely.  Here come some vocals.  Hey, do you remember that band The Flys?  Why, you ask?  No reason.  It’s getting heavier and we’re getting some whispering, which is this Marilyn Manson/NIN sort of thing that creeps me out in a good way.   And around four minutes, that ends the song.

2)      “loveisnot” – This one kicks in a bit more dreamy.  The vocals come in almost right away and it sounds like The Cure.  I definitely like the musical aspect of this guitar work.  This is like a lighter shade of Today is the Day in some ways.  At the three minute mark, it seems like this song is ending but it is not.  False ending!  Almost thirty seconds later and it’s out.

3)      “alwaysthere” – This kicks in with some dreaminess as well.  Apparently “dreaminess” is a word because MS Word doesn’t seem to mind it.   This song is six minutes long, which is almost as long as the first two combined.  We’re in for some ambient guitars here, people.   Three and a half minutes in and still no vocals, not that I’m expecting any.    Closing in on five minutes and it’s getting quiet.   Yes, this EP is ending not with a bang but with a whimper.
