CD REVIEW: Cari Clara "Midnight March" (Deep Elm)

Cari Clara "Midnight March" (Deep Elm)

Cari Clara have quite a sound.  Imagine everything you’ve ever heard before, yet it sounding nothing like that overall.  Bands like The Rocket Summer, The Break, The Verve Pipe and The Hold Steady come to mind as bands this kind of sounds like but really doesn’t.   I also really feel like fans of Copeland would like this for some reason, even though it doesn’t really sound that much like Copeland.  You can even hear some heavy Bruce Springsteen influence on a song such as “Bring On the Dark”.

At the end of the day, these songs are neither really too fast paced or too slow, too poppy or too not, too heavy or too light—they’re just right like Goldilocks and the three bears.  I have no complaints whatsoever about this album.
