CASSETTE REVIEW: Beatbox Machinery “Miami Death Club” (Revolving Door Records)

The name Beatbox Machinery makes me think we’re going to be getting into some hip hop here, and on some levels with the beats we do, but this also walks the line between the new wave 1980’s and early 1990’s sound I love so much and enjoy on cassette.

Amidst the audio samples, there is a definitive dance pattern and some loops which bring to mind the soundtrack to the movie (and/or possibly television series also) “Weird Science”.   There is also an electronic level that brings to my mind something I’ve been listening to more recently such as Mr. Oizo.

Side B certainly takes more of a new wave synth vibe than the hip hop/beats vibe but on either side of this you should be able to have a great dance party.   This reminds me a lot of something Chill Mega Chill would release or just something you might put on your boombox during the summer time at the beach.
