MP3 REVIEW: Brianna Conroy “Illusions”

Though I don’t like to pat myself on the back, I am willing to admit that I have been getting a lot better lately with reviewing music with female vocals to that extent at least that I’m no longer just saying everything sounds like The Cranberries.   I do believe I’ve found a lot more influences both modern and classic to pull from, and for that I am truly grateful.

My inability to classify Brianna Conroy is not so much a fault of mine but rather a testament to her unique blend of music.   Yes, there was a time when I would simply outright state that I wouldn’t know what to compare something with for lack of knowledge, but this is one of those times when I just don’t feel like this is being done.

It could be considered a lighter version of Poe or a better version of Lorde, but neither of those ideas really does express what is going on here completely.   I do hear some Lilly Allen in at least the second song, but again, you cannot simply take a fragment of a song and designate it to represent the entire album, even if it is only four songs.

The truest words that I can write about this is that it is good and you should be listening to it.
