Between
the acoustic folk and pop rock that is somewhere between The Go-Go’s and 1960’s
rock n roll not in the vein of Shannon and the Clams, Lucius offers an
interesting look into what could become radio rock. It’s not that this is necessarily bad, it
just has a sound where it seems to have pieces of other bands put together to
the point where you would just rather listen to them instead of this.
The
best way to think of this is as a hodge podge of other bands which forms
something practical, sure, but not ideal.
Imagine combining various car parts to form a working vehicle. While you might have the door of the VW
Beetle, you wouldn’t have a VW Beetle in and of itself. So
while the car would be practical in the sense that it could get you to work or
school, it wouldn’t really have its own identity.
