Sometimes,
the vocals (or one other specific quality) can really determine whether or not
you like a band. For me, this has
happened with Neon Lights. As much as I
enjoy their FNL style musically, which adds elements of R.E.M. and Nirvana into
it at times, I just cannot get over the
vocals on these songs.
` No
matter what this singer might be singing about, all I can hear him saying is
“For the life of me I could not believe we’d ever die for these sins. We were only freshmen”. The music doesn’t sound like The Verve Pipe
that much, but I just cannot get past these vocals to take this seriously.
