MP3 REVIEW: Esoteric Cycle “Not the Wind, Not the Flag”

Esoteric CycleNot the Wind, Not the Flag
If you’ve ever been a fan of technology then you need to read what I have to tell you in this review.   Basically, I’ve learned that as great as technology is, it has made the criminals of this world soft.   This is good, sure, on some levels but not when most of the criminals become the “push a button blow up a country” type of baddies.
What’s bad about this laziness in criminals with technology is that there is no longer some secret place where the most dangerous criminals are being kept should they for some reason be needed.   And yes, of course I am talking about the plot to the Snake Plisskan movies, more specifically “Escape from L.A.”    Is there such a thing as a bad guy like him anymore?  No because all of the anti-heroes have gone extinct and all we have left are the people from that movie who were actually the villains.
What does all of this have to do with this particular piece of music you ask?  Quite simple, really.   These experimental, noise and string based songs have this certain static sound lingering in the background that makes me think they’re playing in public somewhere.   I imagine them being played in some kind of outdoor market, perhaps in a Chinatown somewhere.  Chinatown takes me to “Big Trouble in Little China” (Oddly not the movie of the same name for some reason) and the rest from there you should be able to piece together yourself.
