CASSETTE REVIEW: Better Psychics “What Is Rule” (OSR Tapes)

The first song on here has Chipmunk vocals and it just makes me feel like this needs to go into some sort of “weird rock” category.   Then the next song is called “Break the Polygraph” and it’s basically the title being sung repeatedly, so it brings to mind another cassette I recently listened to by The Johns.   Also remember: It is not a lie if you believe it (George Costanza)

Sometimes there are horns and a lot of the times this recording sounds like the microphone is having some sort of trouble which is causing the sort of static veil.   Other times, it sounds like they know exactly what they’re doing with the feedback though.

It’s not that this is bad because I have heard before both people who cannot play their instruments and are off key as well as those who record music and maybe miss a note or just ruin the expected structure of their rhythm but are too lazy to go back and fix it.   I’m hesitant to use the words “bad on purpose” because this isn’t bad, it’s just not the normal way songs are structured.
