MP3 REVIEW: Steve Moyes “Blowholes” (MOMA100)

http://museumofmicrocassetteart.bandcamp.com/album/moma100-blowholes

If you’ve ever wondered how the sound of tea pots whistling and whales communicating could be stretched out over roughly a half an hour, wonder no more.  Steve Moyes has shown just how to turn something into a sort of song, though this is really more of a nature documentary audio perhaps.

I know there is a genre for noise, and this isn’t quite noise, but it also isn’t quite a field recording either.  It’s like a step away from either of those, into another sort of subgenre that would be somewhere between a nature recording and underwater communication.
