SBSR: Best Practices “Sore Subjects”

Best PracticesSore Subjects
<1> “GameChanger” – The lead off songs come out swinging like a swift kick to the throat.   This is such a fun, guitar driven punk rock song.
<2> “Home for Halloween” – And now we start with an acoustic guitar and a slower tempo.    Put it kicks into that sort of hardcore punk about sad songs playing on the radio.     About a minute forty five in and we get a nice little break down riff.   The singing is close to speak-screaming, but I still like it.   It reminds me of You’ll Live in that way.    Definitely for fans of I Kill Giants as well.
<3> “Never 100%” – This song hits somewhere between the heavy levels of Grade and The Hope Conspiracy.  It is my favorite song so far and not just because of the title.
<4> “Brita’d” – And this song starts off all fast and complex.    This is more like the second song and the odd numbered songs are similar I think.  This is still some fun speak-screaming with that hardcore punk yet complex indie math rock blended into it so carefully.   I’m really enjoying this.  It’s fast and angry, but so musically moving it doesn’t make you think of your typical hardcore punk band who just seemingly wants to smash stuff.  (Not that there’s anything wrong with smashing stuff)
